The Cambodia National Election Committee (NEC) has become a member of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) � another advancement of Cambodia’s democracy.
The update was shared recently by the committee’s spokesperson H.E. Dim Sovannarom upon his arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport from the participation in 4th A-WEB meeting.
Cambodia NEC was among six other election bodies from different countries officially recognised as the members of A-WEB during its meeting in India, added the spokesperson.
It is optimistic that NEC’s membership into A-WEB will not only contribute to further promoting its quality service, but also to advancement of democracy in Cambodia.
As of its 4th meeting, A-WEB has a total of 114 election bodies from 106 countries as members.
According to its online source, A-WEB is the first global organisation of election management bodies established in October 2013, and it secretariat provides training programs for election officials of member nations and undertakes country programmes at the request of member organisation, providing support during the election cycle to boost election management capacity.
