Minister of Information has appreciated open discussion among journalists and officials from judicial and government authorities on how to work together to avoid misunderstanding.

The minister, H.E. Khieu Kanharith, made the point after chairing the workshop on “Professional Practices and Freedom of the Press within the Legal Framework of Cambodia” on Nov. 16.

Such dialogue will eventually help foster democracy in Cambodia wherein the journalists do not only help citizens but also act as information bridge between them and the government.

He continued that that is the intention of Prime Minster Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen as well as the Royal Government.

So far, there were some misunderstanding between the journalists and the officials at government institutions leading to groundless criticism of the government functioning at large.

H.E. Khieu Kanharith encouraged continued discussion among them to avoid the unfortunate misunderstanding that could hamper the national and people’s interest.
