MFA.IC Hosts a Webinar on Combating Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction

The Taskforce for Anti-Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing and Proliferation Financing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA.IC) organised a Webinar on the dissemination of the “Guideline on Procedures of Forwarding Without Delay the Resolutions or Updated Consolidated List of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) or its Committee” on April 27.

H.E. Mr. CHENG Manith, Director General of the General Department of International Cooperation of the MFA.IC, presided over the webinar, with participation of 115 representatives from Foreign Non-Governmental Organisations (FNGOs) in Cambodia.

According to a press release of MFA.IC, this webinar is aimed to disseminate the above-mentioned Guideline, which was prepared by the MFA.IC in order to contribute to effective and efficient implementation of the Law on Combating the Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, in line the UNSC’s resolutions and the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force.

The Webinar provided a brief overview of relevant law and regulations, FNGOs’ obligations as reporting entities, and focused on the content of the above Guideline by specifying the step-by-step procedure of forwarding the UNSC’s resolutions and consolidated lists to relevant institutions (including to representatives of FNGOs), the mechanism for forwarding the documents and the responsibilities of officers in charge.

At the end of the Webinar, the MFA.IC requested participants to cooperate and pay careful attention in understanding the tasks related to combating the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and in implementing the above Guideline.
