Japan Provide Almost US$70,000 to Support Election Observation in Cambodia

The Government of Japan has agreed to provide almost US$70,000 to support the election observation in Cambodia, under the framework, the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (“KUSANONE” Grant).

The “Project for Supporting Election Observation for the National Assembly Election” will be implemented by the Committee for Free and Fair Elections in Cambodia (COMFREL), said a news release of the Embassy of Japan in Phnom Penh.

H.E. UENO Atsushi, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia and Mr. Kim Chhorn, Executive Director of COMFREL signed the grant contract here on Wednesday.

H.E. Ambassador mentioned about the past cooperation of Japan to support for democracy in Cambodia, and expressed his hope that this project will help ensure free and fair elections in Cambodia.

Cambodia is going to hold the 7th National Election on July 23, 202323 in 23,789 polling stations across the country with the participation of 9,710,645 eligible voters, of them 5,161,906 are women.
