Japan Interested in Smart City Development in Battambang

Japan is interested in smart city development project in Cambodia’s Battambang province.

The interest was unveiled by Mr. TAMURA Tsutomu, Director of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA) and Managing Director of Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. in a meeting with H.E. Sok Lou, Governor of Battambang province in the provincial city early this week.

Mr. TAMURA Tsutomu informed the governor that Japanese investors will visit Cambodia and as well as Battambang province in April.

The purpose of the visit, continued the JCA director, is to understand potential investments, especially on agriculture, silk production and smart city development in the province.

H.E. Sok Lou deeply appreciated Mr. TAMURA Tsutomu, and supported the Japan’s investment intention in the province.

He also asked the JCA director to help encourage more Japanese investors to invest in other key sectors in the province.

Earlier on Feb. 1, Mr. TAMURA Tsutomu also met with H.E. Oum Reatrey, Banteay Meanchey Provincial Governor, during which he informed the governor of the upcoming visit of a group of Japanese investors to learn more about the province’s potential and the investment process of the six Japanese companies in Poipet city.
