IBC to Mobilise Resources for Cambodia’s Demining

International Business Chamber of Cambodia (IBC) expressed its commitment to mobilise needful resources from the private sector and foreign funding to support Cambodia’s demining activities.

Mr. Paul Clements, IBC President highlighted the commitment during a meeting with H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority on June 2 at his office in Phnom Penh.

The IBC president complimented the significant achievements in Cambodia’s demining activities, especially to save lives and promote the livelihood of people affected by landmines and explosive remnants of war including those with disability.

H.E. Ly Thuch thanked Mr. Paul Clements for the intention and appreciation, stressing that potential support by IBC will contribute essentially to the Royal Government’s humanitarian efforts to achieve mine-free status for Cambodia in 2025.

During the past 30 years, demining activities in Cambodia under the leadership of the Royal Government have enaged development partners as well as national and international donors, and established an active mine management structure from the national level to the sub-national level.

Currently, he added, the mine action sector has also attracted attention and support from the private sector and individual donors doing business in Cambodia.
