H.E. Im Chhun Lim, Former Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, has been re-elected as president of Constitutional Council of Cambodia for another three-year mandate (2019-2022).
The election took place in the extraordinary session of Cambodia’s Constitutional Council here in Phnom Penh recently.
Addressing a session following the given trust, H.E. Im Chhun Lim expressed his commitment to fulfill the assigned duty in accordance with Cambodia’s constitution and laws as well as the internal regulations of the council.
Three other officials H.E. Mr. Hy Sophea, H.E. Ms. Ly Vuochleng and H.E. Mr. Keo Putraksmey also started their role as members of the Constitutional Council of Cambodia for a nine-year mandate (2019-2028) to replace the out-going members.
The Constitutional Council of Cambodia is the state’s supreme institution stipulated in the 1993 constitution and it came into force on June 15, 1998.
The council has one president � elected every three years by a college of nine councilors at the absolute majority � and nine members.
Among the council’s 9 members, three are appointed by the National Assembly, three by the Supreme Council of Magistracy and three others by the King.
