The General Department of Taxation at the Ministry of Economy and Finance collected US$1,263 million as tax income in the first three months of this year, a 22 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The tax income figure was unveiled yesterday in a monthly meeting chaired by GDT Director-General H.E. Kong Vibol.

The first quarter tax income represents 45 percent of the yearly target in 2022.

In March alone, the GDT collected US$750 million in tax income, or 26 percent of the total income targeted this year.

The main types of taxes collected by the GDT during the period were tax on profit, VAT, tax on salary, special tax, and property transfer tax, which maintained a significant increase compared to the same period in 2021.
