The Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT Building is an achievement of the good cooperation between the two countries, underlined Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, at the building’s inauguration ceremony held here this morning.

As the founder of both nations’ reconnection, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his pride of this relationship, which has led to many achievements for the nation.

The Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT Building is the fruition of the project on “Capacity Building of Ears Nose Throat (ENT) Centre in Preah Ang Duong Hospital”.

H.E. Dr. Park Heung-kyeong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, welcomed the achievement, adding that besides upgrading physical infrastructure, the capacity of specialist doctors and staff were advanced via provision of in-service training programme and transferring advanced knowledge and sharing experience from Korean doctors.

H.E. Prof. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Im Jeong Hee, Vice President of KOICA, Mr. Hyunjun RHO, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, and representatives from the ministry, the agency, SoonChunHyang University Medical Centere, Heerim Architects & Planners Co., Ltd, Medical Equipment & Electro-Technical Service, and the construction company Handong Engineering & Construction were also on hand.

According to a press release of KOICA Cambodia Office, four years after signing a Record of Discussions (RoD) on the project, the Government of the Republic of Korea, through KOICA handed over a US$8 million Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT Building to the Cambodian government. ENT Building was designed to provide specialised treatment for people with ear, nose and throat problems.

A five-storey building, equipped with advanced equipment for diagnosis, treatment and operation, was constructed in Preah Ang Duong Hospital to help improve its medical services. The new ENT Building has been completed with a total floor area of 4,177.94 square metres with a total of 128 beds, including outpatients, operation room, recovery rooms, and ICU.

The Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT Building was constructed after the Cambodia-Korea Friendship EYE Building in the complex of Preah Ang Duong Hospital. Constructed with a grant of US$5.5 million from KOICA, the 75-room Eye Building was inaugurated in 2015 to improve the capacity of ophthalmic research and medical services and contribute to blind prevention rates and improvement in general eye care services in Cambodia.
