The Exhibition of the ASEM Cultural Festival 2021, an official cultural side-event of the 13th ASEM Summit (ASEM13) was inaugurated at the National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh this afternoon.

The programme is set to run from Nov. 22 to Dec. 31, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts said.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, and H.E. Ms. Carmen Moreno, European Union Head of Mission to Cambodia, with the participation of representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and foreign ambassadors accredited to Cambodia.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Chhay Visoth, Director of Department of Museums, expressed his confidence that the National Museum of Cambodia is more than capable of displaying this exhibition celebrating the ASEM13, since the museum is housed in a century-old historical building – of great national heritage value that was inaugurated in 1920.

This exhibition is conceived in two parts: online and live in the National Museum of Cambodia, he said.

The display involves 37 artists originating from Asia and Europe, he pointed out, adding that their works of art are displayed under 6 main topics, which are; Happy Heads, Sahaka Playground, Encountering Culture, The Longest Voyage, Things that Count, and Il Nodo: A Sketch for Hope.

“These works of arts comprise sculptures, photographs, paintings, jewelry and short films that are reflections of travel and daily life of the artists from these two continents,” Mr. Chhay Visoth underlined.
