Cambodia is expecting cold weather as the minimum temperature is forecast to fall to 16 degrees Celsius from Dec. 1 to 7, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology issued on Nov. 30.
The provinces of Mondulkiri, Rattanakiri, Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey will see lowest minimum temperature, at 15 degrees Celsius, it added.
The ministry explained the phenomenon by the high pressure system from China, which continues to move downwards along with the northeast monsoon.
The temperature in the provinces in the central lowland areas would vary between 17 and 28 degrees Celsius, while that in the areas along the Dangrek mountain range and northeastern highland areas would be from 16 to 28 degrees Celsius, and the coastal regions from 18 to 29 degrees Celsius, it pointed out.
Abnormal wind (seasonal wind) are also forecast throughout the country for the next seven days.
