CLV Parliaments Agree on Draft 25-point Joint Communiqué

The 8th Conference of Foreign Affairs Committees of the Parliaments of Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam (CLV) was successfully wrapped up after a full day of virtual meetings.

The conference agreed on the draft of 25-point Joint Communiqué, according to a news release of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia issued this evening.

Heads of the Foreign Affairs Committees of Lao and Vietnamese NAs spoke highly the conference’s outcome and praised Cambodia for organising this virtual event smoothly and successfully, it added.

In his closing speech, H.E. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the Cambodian NA and Chair of the 8th Conference, emphasised the key role of the legislative body, as an indispensable partner of the executive body, in speeding up the Development Triangle Area.

He also thanked the working groups of the three NAs for their efforts in organising the 8th virtual Conference in a professional manner.

Cambodia hosted via videoconference on Sept. 23 the 8th Conference of Foreign Affairs Committees of the CLV Parliaments under the theme “Promoting Parliamentary Partnership for Sustainable Development and Responding to COVID-19 Crisis in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA).

The event was opened under the presidency of H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary, Second Vice President of Cambodian NA who highlighted the importance of cooperation between the three neighbouring countries in developing the triangle area towards prosperity, as well as in economic recovery in the post-COVID-19 crisis.
