Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping has announced to provide 20 more million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for Cambodia, according to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister.

In a telephone conversation this afternoon with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Chinese leader said 5 of the 20 million doses will arrive in Cambodia later this month, H.E. Kao Kim Hourn added.

H.E. Xi Jinping also announced to work in Cambodia in setting up a COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing plant in the Kingdom, he underlined.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed profound thanks to China for the humanitarian donation, particularly at the time when Cambodia is in need of vaccines.

Cambodia now has over 44.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines both through purchases and donations through COVAX Facility and under bilateral framework.

The number includes 29,424,800 doses of Sinovac, 7,800,000 doses of Sinopharm, 3,784,500 doses of AstraZeneca, 2,350,530 doses of Pfizer, 1,064,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson, and 188,160 doses of Moderna.

As of Mar. 17, about 92.34 percent of the total 16 million Cambodian population have been inoculated against the COVID-19 pandemic with the basic doses.

Cambodia has also donated COVID-19 vaccines to some countries in the region, including Lao PDR and Vietnam.
