Cambodian PM: Students, a Priority Group of National Vaccination Campaign

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen officially announced that all students are one of the priority groups of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign to ensure that all of them are safe enough for the school reopening.

Speaking at a get-together with 1,753 students who got their baccalaureate with grade A in the 2020-2021 academic year, held at Chroy Changvar Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said there are in total some 3 million students and all of them play an important part in the herd immunity against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Premier added that the newly-arrived 2 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, donated by the U.S. to Cambodia via the COVAX facility, will be used as booster doses for the students.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said nearly 15 million of the total population of 16 million have be inoculated with the basic doses, after the vaccination campaign was conducted without any discrimination.

For the 2020-2021 academic year, 72,016 students or 65.65 percent of the total 114,187 students, who sit for the high school exams, obtained their baccalaureate. Among these successful students, 1,753 got grade A; 5,215 grade B; 11,634 grade C; 23,499 grade D; and 29,915 grade E.
