Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here at the Peace Palace this morning newly appointed Ambassador of Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Cambodia H.E. Buakeo Phumvongsay.

According to H.E. H.E. Buakeo Phumvongsay pledged to do his best to bring the bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Lao PDR to a new level.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his warm welcome to the diplomatic mission of H.E. Buakeo Phumvongsay and agreed with what the ambassador mentioned regarding the relations between the two neighbouring nations.

The Prime Minister informed the new diplomat of the lifting of mandatory mask wearing in the provinces bordering with Lao PDR, and encouraged both sides to boost trade activities and seek more potential areas of cooperation.

Yesterday evening, the Royal Government of Cambodia announced that the people in the provinces of Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri, Stung Treng and Preah Vihear are not required to wear mask anymore. They can make their own decision whether or not to wear mask.

Those from other areas who visit the four provinces are not obliged to wear mask, but if they go to other provinces beside the four, the mask wearing remains mandatory.
