Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has spoken highly of Japan’s key role in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (PKO) in the world, especially in Cambodia in the past 30 years.
While receiving a delegation of visiting URAGA and HIRADO, two defence vessels of the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) led by Captain NOGOCHI Yasushi, Commanding Officer of the Deployment, in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province this evening, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said PKO had contributed not only to build peace, but also to boost development in Cambodia, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his pride of PKO and encouraged them to continue the cooperation to promote security and safety in the region.
For his part, Captain NOGOCHI Yasushi congratulated Cambodia on holding the ASEAN Chairmanship and thanked Cambodia for the good cooperation with Japan.
He also pledged to do his best to maintain safety and security in the region.
URAGA and HIRADO docked at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in Preah Sihanouk province this morning for a three-day (Mar. 15-17) visit in Cambodia, aiming to promote the friendship and mutual understanding with the Royal Cambodian Navy and to commemorate the 30th anniversary of PKO in Cambodia.
