Cambodian PM Extends Condolences over Passing of Former Japanese PM

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent a condolence message to Prime Minister of Japan H.E. KISHIDA Fumio over the passing of H.E. KAIFU Toshiki, former Prime Minister of Japan.

“I am extremely saddened to learn about the demise of His Excellency Mr. KAIFU Toshiki, former Prime Minister of Japan. On behalf of the Royal Government and people of Cambodia, I would like to express my deepest condolences to Your Excellency and through you to the Japanese people and the bereaved family on this great loss,” the Cambodian Premier wrote in his message dated Jan. 14.

Former Prime Minister KAIFU was an outstanding Japanese statesman, who will always be remembered for his instrumental role in promoting peace, stability and development in the region and beyond, and particularly for his contribution to the peace process in Cambodia, which led to the Paris Peace Agreements in 1991, he underlined.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Your Excellency and the people of Japan during this difficult time,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.

H.E. KAIFU Toshiki, who was Prime Minister of Japan from 1989 to 1991, passed away on Jan. 9 of natural causes at the age of 91.
