Cambodia, Vietnam Mull over Passport and Vaccination Certificate Recognition

Cambodian and Vietnamese leaders have agreed to accelerate the conclusion of the border trade agreement and the negotiations toward passport and vaccination certificate recognition.

The move will boost and facilitate cross-border trade and travel of the two countries’ people, H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to Cambodian Prime Minister, told reporters after the meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and visiting Vietnamese President H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, here at the Peace Palace this morning.

According to the assistant, the Cambodian Premier spoke highly of H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s state visit to Cambodia this time, stressing that it is the opening of Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022.

Both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the development of close and fruitful relationship and cooperation between both nations over the past 55 years, even in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. While H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his congratulations to Cambodia on its achievements, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Vietnam for its support for Cambodia’s hosting of the 13th ASEM Summit in last November, the Kingdom’s chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022 and so on.

They welcomed the bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment, and agreed to boost the implementation of existing agreements related to trade and investment, and to increase cooperation in the areas of defence, health, education and justice as well as the cooperation at the regional and international levels.
