Cambodia, the Philippines Discuss Mine Action Cooperation

Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) and the Philippines Mine Action have discussed mine action cooperation.

The discussion took place here this week at the CMAA headquarters between H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of CMAA and a delegation of the Philippines Mine Action led by H.E. Hussein Munoz, a Member of National Assembly for Bangsamoro (Muslim Mindanao), and H.E. Ms. Amelita Aquino, Ambassador of the Philippines to Cambodia.

On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, H.E. Ly Thuch highly valued the diplomatic relationship between Cambodia and the Philippines.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has set ambitious target to achieve the mine-free status by 2025, said H.E. Senior Minister.

So far, Cambodia’s mine clearance operation has cleared 2,328 square kilometres of land from landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW).

About 1,118,810 anti-personnel mines, 25,952 anti-tank mines, and 2,983,416 cluster bombs have been found and destroyed.
