Cambodia Supports UN’s Role in Russia-Ukraine War

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this afternoon voiced his support for the UN’s role as the coordinator of the Russian-Ukraine war.

While presiding over the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the impact of war in Ukraine is big and can affect all.

It is the war between Russian and Ukraine […], but its impact is huge and affects all sectors, especially oil and gas, as well as the global supply chains, therefore the UN has an important role to play in this issue, he underlined.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also recommended all competent authorities, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) to ensure national food security.

According to the MAFF’s press release released on April 27, Cambodia’s agricultural exports rose by 5.60 percent to over 4 million tonnes in the first four months of 2022, compared to the same period last year, despite the negative impact of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine.

Rice and cassava are among the products whose export is on noticeable rise while fresh bananas and mangoes saw a decline due to a number of reasons, it pointed out.
