Cambodia Studying the Production of COVID-19 Vaccine with Raw Materials from China

Cambodia has been studying the initiative to manufacture COVID-19 vaccines in the Kingdom with raw materials from China, considering that vaccine is a global goods.

The initiative was underlined by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen while presiding over the Ceremony of the Government and the People of the People’s Republic of China’s Successful Vaccine Supply to the First Round of the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia’s Vaccination Campaign, organised here at Phnom Penh International Airport this morning.

Even though the COVID-19 pandemic remains for many more years, Cambodia has no worry as it has its own vaccine production base, he explained, adding that Cambodia can also be a source of vaccine supply for other countries.

The Premier asked Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wentian to urgently bring the request to Chinese top leaders.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also advised the Ministry of Health to continue this work with the Chinese Embassy.

He took the opportunity to appeal to all his compatriots to get the inoculation against COVID-19 as well as to receive the booster doses.

According to the Prime Minister, the COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Cambodia will exceed 88 percent today, a highest level in the world.
