Cambodia and Russia have agreed to further strengthen their cooperation, particularly in the media sector which plays a more important role in the current situation.

The agreement was made during a meeting between Cambodian Minister of Informaiton H.E. Khieu Kanharith and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cambodia H.E. Anatoly Borovik, at the ministry in Phnom Penh this morning.

H.E. Minister and H.E. Ambassador spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation on information exchange and online training organisation between the Cambodian Ministry of Information, including the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP), the embassy and Russian state media such as TASS and Sputnik.

On the occasion, H.E. Anatoly Borovik also informed the information minister of the reasons of the war in Ukraine and Russia’s stance over the issue as well as fake news created by the West.

H.E. Anatoly Borovik thus expressed the embassy’s readiness to cooperate with the Cambodian media to provide true information to the Cambodian people.

H.E. Khieu Kanharith welcomed the commitment and asked the embassy to send to the ministry any necessary documents as soon as possible.
