Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has reaffirmed Cambodia’s pledge of US$100,000 to Myanmar through AHA Centre.
“At the virtual Pledging Conference to Support ASEAN’s Humanitarian Assistance (AHA) to Myanmar this afternoon, I conveyed that, based on Samdech Techo Prime Minister’s decision, Cambodia will contribute US$100,000 through the AHA Centre and a direct donation of US$200,000 along with essential medical equipment to support Myanmar in combating the spread of the COVID-19,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
In addition, he continued, the Cambodian Red Cross has decided to join this cause by donating US$100,000 to the Myanmar Red Cross Society. “Our gesture is in line with the ASEAN Leaders’ Five-Point Consensus and symbolises the spirit of friendship and solidarity between our two countries as well as within ASEAN,” he underlined.
In November last year, the Royal Government of Cambodia also donated more than 2 million facemasks and some medical materials to Myanmar to support the latter’s efforts in combating the pandemic.
