Cambodia Receives Over 210,000 Domestic Tourists in First Weekend of April

A total of 212,836 domestic visitors toured Cambodia in the first weekend of April, an increase by 3.1 percent compared to the previous weekend, according to a report of the Ministry of Tourism.

The source pointed out that of the visitors, 199,113 were national tourists and 13,723 were foreign tourists.

The most visited tourist destination was Preah Sihanouk coastal province, followed by Phnom Penh capital, and the provinces of Kampot, Battambang, Siem Reap, Kep, and Pursat.

In the first quarter of this year, some 2.8 million domestic tourists were registered, among them 2.5 million were national tourists, up 42 percent, and about 300,000 were international visitors, up 131 percent.

Over 10 million domestic tourists have been estimated to tour the country in the whole year of 2022, an increase of over 100 percent from 4.66 million in 2021.

For international visitors, 151,680 of them visited Cambodia in the first three months of 2022, up 114 percent from the same period last year. Most of them were from ASEAN (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia), Asia (China, Korea, Japan), Europe (France, the UK), and America (the U.S.).

Cambodia expects to welcome some 600,000 to 700,000 international tourists this year, after the Royal Government had recently eased the entry rules.
