The two-way trade between Cambodia and Gabon keeps increasing from one year to another, reaching some US$149 million in the past four years.

The figure was shared during a meeting here on Tuesday between H.E. Pan Sorasak, Cambodian Minister of Commerce and his Gabonese counterpart H.E. Yves Fernand Manfoumbi.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, of the US$149 million bilateral trade between the two countries from 2018 to 2021, over US$148 million were Cambodian exports to Gabon.

In the meeting, H.E. Pan Sorasak said Gabon is a main market for Cambodia’s milled rice, asking the Gabonese side to consider importing other Cambodian potential products such as fresh fruits, cassava, clothes, footwear, travel goods, and so on.

For his part, H.E. Yves Fernand Manfoumbi said that Gabon is seeking trade partners in Asia, mainly in Cambodia, and suggested the establishment of a MoU on Cambodia-Gabon trade cooperation, the promotion of investment in industry, and the exchange of bilateral trade in a complementary manner and organisation of trade expos.

H.E. Pan Sorasak welcomed and voiced support for the suggestions, especially the MoU on bilateral trade cooperation expected to be signed in the second semester of this year.
