Cambodia Committed to “Green” Cooperation within ASEAN-EU Framework

Cambodia is committed to the “green” cooperation within the ASEAN-EU framework, according to Minister of Environment.

The minister H.E. Say Samal underlined the commitment in a meeting with EU Ambassador to ASEAN H.E. Igor Driesmans here in Phnom Penh on Mar. 1.

H.E. Igor Driesmans highlighted that the “green” cooperation within ASEAN-EU framework will be a key catalyst for environmental conservation in ASEAN region.

This cooperation will include new initiatives like sustainable financing and investment, green economic promotion, natural protected area management, clean energy, and adaptation and mitigation of the effects of climate change, he continued.

H.E. Say Samal reassured H.E. Igor Driesmans that Cambodia, as the ASEAN Chair, is ready to promote the “green” cooperation.

He also encouraged more attention and initiatives on carbon credits, marine plastic waste management, green technology development, and local community development in the ASEAN region.
