The Kingdom of Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China have agreed to continue their cooperation on law enforcement by signing a working plan on continued cooperation on Tuesday via videoconference.
Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and H.E. Zhao Kezhi, Chinese Minister of Public Security were the signatories.
Both sides also agreed to continue strengthening the cooperation in preventing cross-border crimes, illegal online gambling, online scams and illicit drug trafficking, according to a press release of the Ministry of Interior.
They will continue their close cooperation and mutual support for the success of major national and international events to be organised by both countries such as Cambodia’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2022, the Winter Olympics in Beijing, the 32nd SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia, and so on.
During their virtual meeting before the signing ceremony, both sides lauded the good relations and close cooperation in all domains between the two countries, under the comprehensive strategic partnership, contributing to bringing about progress and development for Cambodia and China.
They informed each other on the general security situation in their respective countries and noted the progress in their fruitful cooperation and their mutual support in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, technical material assistance, capacity building, visit exchange, especially the cooperation in preventing and cracking down on all kinds of cross-border crimes.
Cambodia and China launched the Year of Law Enforcement Cooperation in 2019 on the initiative of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping.
