Cambodia, Australia Boosting Trade and Investment Ties

Cambodia and Australia have discussed ways to boost their bilateral trade and investment ties.

The discussion took place here recently between Neak Oknha Kit Meng, President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Australian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Pablo Kang and visiting Senior Trade Commissioner H.E. Ms. Rebecca Ball.

According to the Australian Embassy, they discussed opportunities to boost trade and investment ties, including to bring new technologies to Cambodia and upgrade existing or develop new industries – particularly in the mining, agriculture and agro-processing, education and manufacturing sectors.

Senior Trade Commissioner H.E. Ms. Rebecca Ball noted plans for investment missions to Cambodia in key sectors over the course of this year, as well as a number of Australian companies exploring significant investments in Cambodia.

“We look forward to deepening collaboration with the CCC over the course of this year as Cambodia hosts a number of key business events as part of its 2022 Chairing of ASEAN,” the embassy said.

As the Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, Neak Oknha Kit Meng invited Australian companies to support the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit to be organised by the CCC during the 2022 ASEAN Summit. The ASEAN Business and Investment Summit will discuss important topics and report to the ASEAN Economic Ministers as well as ASEAN leaders.
